Duration: Series of 8 workshops; Every Saturday, 10am-1pm

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is designed to help you, the participant, decorate or redecorate your home. In the next 8 weeks you will be able to understand the often-confusing process of interior design and you will be able to figure out how to meet needs and wants while making your home beautiful, comfortable, and practical place to live.


OUTLINE

  • To understand the basics of interior decorating;
  • To acquire the skills to redecorate your own home by creatively selecting material and finishes, color schemes, furnishings and accessories;
  • To understand the difference between styles;
  • To prepare a concept presentation board

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Students whose native language is not English must submit evidence of proficiency in the language. Students must meet the minimum English Standard as stipulated below to commence their registered Advanced Diploma/Bachelor/Master courses with Raffles College of Higher Education.

Advanced Diploma (2 Years) Bachelor of Commerce (Top Up)
Applicable to students with Diploma / Higher NITEC / NITEC or equivalent (based on Recognition of Prior Learning)
Master of Commerce (1 Year)
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 5.5, taken during the last two years
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 525 (Paper-based) or 70 (Internet-based), taken during the last two years
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) with a minimum score of 620
  • GCE 'O' Level English Language Examination of C6
  • Completion of Advanced English with Raffles College of Higher Education, Singapore
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.0, taken during the last two years
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 550 (Paper-based) or 79 (Internet-based), taken during the last two years
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) with a minimum score of 650
  • GCE 'O' Level English Language Examination of C6
  • Completion of Advanced English with Raffles College of Higher Education, Singapore
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.5, taken during the last two years
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 575 (Paper-based) or 90 - 91 (Internet-based), taken during the last two years
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) with a minimum score of 700
English Speaking Countries Non-English Speaking Countries
Course is undertaken solely in the English Language The study was completed in an institution which is listed in the International Handbook of Universities, World Higher Education Database, UK Naric Database or AEI NOOSR guides and is conducted and examined solely in the English Language
  • Preparation course approved by RCDC as a basis for admission*
  • Senior secondary qualification accepted by RCDC*
  • 1 (or more) Year(s)- Post-secondary study at an RCDC recognised institution
  • 2 (or more) Years - Senior secondary qualification
  • 2 (or more) Years - Post secondary Diploma qualification
  • 3 (or more) Years - Undergraduate programme
  • 2 (or more) Years - Postgraduate programme
  • 3 (or more) Years - Undergraduate programme
  • 3 (or more) Years - Undergraduate programme
  • 2 (or more) Years - Postgraduate programme
The College reserves the right to verify applicant's standard of English through English Placement test for applicants applying through Part B. (*Only applicable to RCDC Programmes)
Students who do not meet the minimum requirement as stipulated above will need to take the Raffles College of Higher Education's English Placement Test

AGE REQUIREMENTS

For All the Certificate Programmes
The minimum age requirement is 16-years of age.

COURSE DETAILS

Workshop 1
  • Introduction to Fashion Accessories – design influences, styles and trends, colour theory
  • Demonstration of metal wire beading
  • Application Project - Earring
Workshop 2
  • Presentation and demonstration of filligree and flat designs - creativity process, translating designs from paper to actual medium, embellishment and finishing techniques.
  • Application project - Neck Piece
Workshop 3
  • Instructor-led demonstration of construction and sewing of a basic clutch bag
  • Techniques and mediums used to enhance sewn projects
  • Application project - Clutch Bag
