Creating Lights To Ignite

INDIA – Providing students with a holistic and quality education is not just what Raffles does, but we also equip them with professional development skills that prepare them to be industry ready. With the latest practice and know-how injected into our curriculum, Interior Design students from Raffles Bangalore had the opportunity to participate in a live industrial project. Led by their faculty’s creative practitioner, Dr. Neena Jaju Pingaley, the students undertook a stage lighting assignment at the Annual Festival of Sampoorna, which was organised by the Dance & Music Academy. This project was part of their learning experience in the Environment Lighting module.

With the client’s brief, there are certain requirements that the students have to adhere to. Some of the tasks included performing an assessment of the stage, determining illumination angles, creating lighting script and special effects with colour and angular light spread. The students also encountered some hands-on experience in installing light fixtures, plotting, rigging and supervising the final execution of all lighting plans and designs. Though it was not easy, their enthusiasm to the fruits of their labour was rewarded when the audience were enthralled by the spectacular performance of the dancers, which was accompanied by an excellent light choreography.

We would like to congratulate the students of Raffles Bangalore and wish them all the best as they succeed in future forays!
