Singapore – Raffles Singapore is proud to be the education institution supporting the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) 2015 and designing the trophies for the winners.
WSDC is a truly global competition for high school debaters. The Championships take place each year in a different country, hosted by a national debating body. This year, it was hosted in Singapore. It is the 20th anniversary of Singapore’s first participation in the World Schools Debating Championship.
Raffles Designers, SON Yujeong and LIANG Jeffery had the opportunity to design the trophies – Semi-finalist, Best E.F.L Team, Best E.S.L Team, Grand-finalist and Champion. The semi-finalist trophy was a design of a debater’s face to represent WSDC. Best E.F.L Team, Best E.S.L Team, Grand-finalist and Championship trophies were a design of the Singapore’s icon, the Merlion to mark Singapore’s participation in this event.
Debating teams from across the world to Singapore participated in this event from 28th July to 5th August 2015. The trophies presentation took place at the Closing Ceremony of the event held at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel on 5th August 2015. Having the opportunity of designing the trophies for 27th WSDC will undoubtedly help our students to enhance their portfolio.
