Singapore – Raffles Singapore organised an inaugural event – “A Day with Award-winning Fashion Godfather Daniel Boey” and Joe Spinelli, Principal of Raffles College of Higher Education on 21 November 2014.

Graced by Raffles Fashion Designer Afton Chen, the co-founder of Reckless Ericka, the event was well-received by Raffles students as they learned experiences from Daniel Boey on his new book, the fashion design industry and his collaboration journey with Raffles.

In his first book ever, Daniel Boey credited Raffles Singapore for their long term partnership that goes a long way back to the 1990s. As a judge for Raffles Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design, he provided constructive advices to budding designers. Through various platforms such as fashion shows and competitions, he has also helped to push forth young aspiring designers regionally and internationally.

He groomed and nurtured many outstanding Raffles alumni who have made a name in the fashion design industry and were also featured in his book, such as Raffles Fashion Designer Afton Chen and Raffles Fashion Marketer Louis Koh with label ‘Reckless Ericka’; Joe Chia and label ‘Joe Chia’; Cynthia Fransisca with label ‘cynthiafransisca’; Tsai Ming Hung with label ‘Mr Howard’; Luke Elijah Lim with label ‘to-a-tee’; including Raffles Singapore Creative Practitioners such as Jay Quek and Madeleine Wong, all of whom are award winners in various international competitions.

A special mention in his book was Joe Spinelli, Principal of Raffles College of Higher Education, whom Daniel Boey has reached out to when he was still a fresh newcomer in the fashion industry. He was impressed by the way Joe maintained close relationship and extended his nurturing reach to all his students even after they have graduated.

The event ended on a high note with autograph signing by Daniel Boey to thank his fervent supporters.
