Raffles Product Designer wins again at the IKEA Young Designers Award! Following the footsteps of Year 2014 winners Ms Auradee Sae-Lin, Ms Valentia Ratih Sutandar and Ms Modica Alysia, Raffles Designer Ms Teng Xiangyi Alexzandrea joined the honour list to clinch the Top 20 award of the prestigious competition!

Launched by IKEA Singapore in 2014, the IKEA Singapore’s Young Designer Award offers a platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and develop furnishing solutions that align with the main theme of the competition.

The theme this year is: Good Mornings. Great Nights. Designs showcased functional and affordable solutions. This competition was extended nationwide to invite budding young talents to express their ideas and create furniture that helps create a better everyday life at home, in the bedroom or bathroom.

“The IKEA Young Designer Awards are a great opportunity for the students to showcase their ideas. This the second time that IKEA organised this contest, and I’m proud to say that some of my students won awards, in 2014 Auradee Sae Lin came in first place and Valentia Ratih Sutandar was the 1st runner up and in 2015 Teng Xiang Yu Alexandria was selected into the top 20.

I’m glad that IKEA gives this opportunity to the students to shine and show their ideas. I hope that one of these ideas will be an actual retail product in the future.” Said Hector Salazar, Programme Coordinator of 3D Design Department.

Hector added on “Alexzandrea is a young, enthusiastic and hard working student with fresh ideas, I have been working with her since the beginning of the year. With that hunger for knowledge and always looking for more, she always provides good concepts and it is my pleasure to guide students like her along.”
