Raffles India’s Big Win

India – Raffles Greater Noida‘s School of Engineering was recently conferred a prestigious Campus Preparedness Award 2015 by Campus Management in association with Engineering Watch. Engineering Watch is India’s most renowned community consisted of Engineering stakeholders who work in association with campuspreparedness.org to recognise Indian campuses’ readiness for Global Excellence.

Raffles has been recognised year on year by external and independent organisations for its outstanding work and opportunities for personal growth provided to staff and students. The Award was received by Prof. Mahesh Gandhi, Director General of Raffles Greater Noida and Dr. Krishna Rao, Director and Dean for School of Engineering, in a glittering ceremony from Prof. RK Khandal, Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Technical University at the Higher Education Forum held on 2 April at Tagore hall, SCOPE Complex in New Delhi. The ceremony was also graced by founders and leaders from a vast spectrum of Higher Education Institutions in the private sector.

On a separate occasion, a group of students from the Engineering discipline did Raffles Greater Noida proud in an annual technical fest “Apogee 2015” held at BITS Pilani in March 2015. Raffles Greater Noida has been promoting Project-based Learning since its inception as such student-centric learning approach help students to actively explore real-life situations and play a vital role in enhancing the students’ confidence. It also provide students with ample opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of  various subjects and the links between college education versus the real world.

Raffles Greater Noida also funds up to 60% of the costs for student projects that must be competitively applied for, and has created several domain specific workshops to support the overall initiative. This approach is yielding results as more students are scaling new heights in academics and extracurricular activities.

Here were the winners:

  • Amandeep Singh and Akshat Gupta who won First Prize in “Bob the Builder” event against more than 30 elite teams
  • Amandeep Singh also won Grand prize in the “Airborne Kernal Hovercraft” race event
  • Akshay Kumar III prize in the “NFS Armagradon” gaming event
  • Akash Dwivedi participated in hovercraft “Airborn Drag Race”
  • Ayan Pahwa, Akash Dwivedi and Anirudh Acharya won sponsors’ coupon from eBay in “Guess the Jingle and Logo Challenge”

Ayan Pahwa, Anirudh Sharma, Arpit Srivastava and Akshay Kumar also participated in Apogee Innovation Challenge. Overall, the event was a great exposure and confidence booster for these students.
