‘Through The Walls’ is billed as one that “deconstructs and reinvents spaces with humour and surprise, bringing each Hermès object to life”. The exhibition presents home objects in a way that is quintessentially Hermès – whimsical, poetic, unexpected and full of humour and surprise and aims to showcase the wealth of items this French luxury brand offers to discerning homeowners.
Besides exploring this immersive exhibition and interacting with the Hermès merchandise, such as tableware, decorative objects, furniture pieces, bespoke scarf curiosity cabinets, wallpapers, and furnishing fabrics, students had the opportunity to learn the history of modern retail environment and its development. They also understood the importance of store layouts, fixtures and fittings, lighting, display principles, and in-store merchandising systems, to gain practical knowledge of visual merchandising techniques.
