Raffles Singapore Celebrates Design At SingaPlural 2016!

Singapore – In support of Singapore Design Week (SDW), Raffles Singapore has once again participated in SingaPlural, an annual anchor event for SDW!

Organised by Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), SingaPlural 2016 was held from 7 – 13 March at 99 Beach Road, which was also the location and former campus of Raffles College of Higher Education (Raffles Singapore). SingaPlural showcased the best design elements from the multi-faceted creative spectrum: Advertising, Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, as well as Interior, Furniture, Graphic and Fashion Design.

Last year, Raffles Singapore entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SFIC in strengthening ties between the two parties and enhance learning opportunities. The MOU sets a platform for exclusive collaborations between Raffles Singapore and SFIC to promote design in the furniture industries and design education in Singapore.

This year, SingaPlural celebrates its 5th anniversary with a new theme, “Senses – The Art and Science of Experiences”. The event brought together creativity that tantalises visitors with new perspectives of design. In line with this year’s theme, Raffles Singapore’s exhibition, titled, “Seeing the Invisible” showcased the works by Raffles Designers through a multi-sensory experience through sight, sound and scent.

At this exhibition, Raffles unveiled the works by Raffles Designers from Fashion Design, Jewellery Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Multimedia Design, Graphic Design and Animation. Just as eyes are windows to the soul, these windows provide insight into the creations of Raffles Designers.

Amidst the 71 installation by exhibitors, “Seeing the Invisible” stands out through its bountiful visual transition, encompassing sound and scent where design enthusiasts and public indulge their senses in. The transitional experience teased the visitors with new perspective of how design can be employed and evolved from day through the night.
