Storycity: A Cultural Initiative

INDIA – Raffles Mumbai was recently privileged to have prominent communication design studio ‘Kahani Designworks’ on-campus, for an intriguing industry talk with our budding Raffles Designers centered around the launch of their latest project ‘Storycity’ – a publishing initiative to promote cultural engagement across Indian cities.

Through a team comprising designers, writers and storytellers passionate about the exploration of urban heritage, inspirational stories were artfully weaved together, with the aim of helping shape creative culture in contemporary India.

Among Kahani’s team of designers is Pragati Jhunjhunwala, an alumnus of the Visual Communication Design programme at Raffles Mumbai. Having joined as a Graphic Designer in 2014, she has since been part of several commissioned projects in the arenas of brand expression and illustration, as well as the ‘Storycity’ publications’. A new ‘Storycity’ publication that she is contributing to is slated for release in early 2016.

Founded by Ruchita MADHOK (Founder & Principal Designer), Kahani Designworks helps businesses and art organisations engage their audiences through clear, beautifully crafted communication. Trained in exhibition design (Ahmedabad) and scenography (London), Ruchita has worked extensively alongside corporate organisations and art institutions across India, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East. Her expertise lies in formulating strategy and crafting expert communications for arts organisations, through print and exhibition mediums. A member of the ARThinkSouthAsia programme for excellence in art management, she is also a published editor, contributing to numerous Indian and international magazines.
