SINGAPORE – It was invaluable high-profile, international exposure of the highest order for several Raffles Designers past and present, as they took centre-stage at the iconic Capitol Theatre for Digital Fashion Week’s (DFW) SG50 Fashion Show in October this year.
Specially themed in celebration of Singapore’s 50th anniversary this year, DFW 2015’s fashion show would feature some of Singapore’s hottest up-and-coming designers, alongside the crème-de-la-crème from the next generation of creative talent from top local fashion schools such as our very own Raffles Design Institute.
Held annually in both Singapore and Bangkok, DFW has supported over 50 local designers since its inception in 2012.
And among the 11 top local designers featured this year were two of our standout alumnus, Raffles Fashion Design Afton CHEN and Raffles Fashion Marketer Amos Ananda YEO, who showcased their enthralling collections at the annual showcase of the most promising emerging fashion designers in Asia.
This year’s edition was co-ordinated by renowned local fashion and creative director, Daniel Boey, providing a uniquely Singaporean element to the showcase which has welcomed a star-studded array of industry luminaries including Naomi Campbell, Patricia Field and Guo Pei to our shores in recent years.
It was an illuminating experience on the big stage for our Raffles Fashion Designers, who expressed a great sense of achievement upon conclusion of the showcases.
“We felt very lucky to be chosen to present our collections in the Digital Fashion Week. The theme is SG50 so our collections are presented using Red and White colours. The overall experience is challenging but fun. We learnt a lot through this experience. We would like to thank our lecturers, Jay and Arzelle for guiding us through this. We would also like to thank our Principle Joe SPINELLI and Raffles Singapore for giving us this opportunity to participate in Digital Fashion Week,” shared one of them.
