As Principal of Raffles College of Higher Education, I am especially privileged to present “Defy the Defined”, our graduation exhibition and fashion showcase.

Consider the character Elphaba (the so-called Wicked Witch of the West), who found power in the idea of being an outsider. She boldly claims that she is through playing by the rules that have existed up until now. It is truly the time to Defy, to break with the old and move towards a new future. You, the graduates of Raffles College of Higher Education, are in possession of those new rules which will take you to a new life and a special adventure. Tonight will be the first night of something new and exciting, a new future that you will carve out for yourselves. Now is the time to put into practice all that you have learned and developed over the past years of studies. It begins with an exploration of yourselves and your ideas. Every experiment, every solution, whether it is successful or not, brings you closer to re-defining the boundaries of your creativity.

Once again, it is that familiar ritual that occurs every year, where the graduating cohort leaves Raffles College of Higher Education to begin to live the life and career for which our dedicated staff have prepared them over their many years of study. We look forward to our graduating students’ keeping the tradition and passion alive. On behalf of the staff of Raffles College of Higher Education, I wish them much success in their future endeavours.
