Project Description
RAFFLES DESIGN X METRO X
LIBERTY FABRICS DESIGN CHALLENGE 2020

Following the success of the Little Black Dress collaboration, Raffles Design Institute partnered with METRO once again, together with Liberty Fabrics (London), to design a fashion collection using Liberty Fabrics. Designs from eight Raffles Fashion Designers and two Raffles Jewellery Designers were chosen by Ms Christy WONG (Fashion Director, METRO) and her team, to translate their designs into samples.

Liberty Fabrics (London) has over a century of heritage as a brand and their fabric designs have been known to transcend time. Liberty Fabrics is most renowned for their oriental prints especially their iconic Liberty Tana Lawn cotton design, inspired over a 100 years ago through a discovery of the patterns found on the shores of Lake Tana in the 1920s.

Raffles Singapore is the only fashion design school in Southeast Asia and outside of the UK to have the opportunity to work using Liberty Fabrics to develop a commercial fashion collection. Such opportunities prepare Raffles Designers for the industry prior to their graduation and strengthen their employability upon graduation.

The Ten Raffles Designers are:
