INDIA – Raffles Mumbai held its graduation show on the 10th October 2015 at The Lalit, Mumbai. Close to 600 guests including parents, students, and a range of esteemed guests including industry partners and diplomats attended the event, to mark the completion of a beautiful journey of our design students.

Encompassing both a student exhibition and a fashion show, ‘Bright Young Things 2015’ featured an array of works from our graduating cohort of students, which included innovative design concepts and creative pieces from the Fashion Marketing, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design and Product Design faculties. Advanced Diploma and Degree students alike were present, to artfully showcase their works to industry members and guests.

Fashion Design students would then take the stage, parading their creative collections in an enthralling fashion show. It was a bold, artistic display of their talents in fashion, with themes such as ‘Streets of Paris’, ‘Summer of Love’, ‘Feelings’ and many more. Various materials, cuts, designs, styles and garments were on display, as the students highlighted their exquisite talents in an exemplary display of fashion nous.

The graduation students would then receive their certificates from their respective Programme Directors, as the evening moved on towards the convocation ceremony. A bittersweet event, for while it was a significant milestone in their lives which signalled the start of a new adventure for them in their professional careers, it also represented their departure from the Raffles family, as students at least.

The evening would also see the presentation of various design awards to outstanding students, with a total of 12 students being recognised for their achievements in various categories, which included:

• Fashion Design – ‘Best Technical Workmanship’ and ‘Most Fashion Forward’
• Fashion Marketing – ‘Highest Academic Excellence’ and ‘Most Creative Marketing’
• Graphic Design – ‘Best Creative Concept’ and ‘Most Promising New Talent’
• Product Design – ‘Best Overall Work’ and ‘Most Dedicated Designer’
• Interior Design – ‘Best Overall Work’ and ‘Most Innovative Concept’
• Multimedia Design – ‘Best Design Execution’ and ‘Best Overall Performance’

It was definitely an evening to be proud of, and a thrill to see the creativity of these brilliant young minds manifest themselves on stage.
