Gaining Industrial Exposure and Insights Globally

SINGAPORE – Gaining industrial exposure from a global perspective is indeed an interesting and crucial aspect for Degree students in Coventry University’s Bachelor of Arts (Honours) programme. Thus, our Raffles Singapore Fashion Design students are visiting Hong Kong to be enlightened about the innovation and the future in fashion industry!

Besides visiting Hong Kong, the global hub of the fibre, textile and apparel industry, our Creative Practitioners, Giuseppe (Joe) SPINELLI and Jay QUEK, led the Raffles Singapore Fashion Design students to a series of seminars organised by The Woolmark Company Resource Centre to discover more about the wonders and versatility of Australian Merino wool from Mr Daniel CHAN, Key Account Manager and made aware of the upcoming trends for A/W 2018 season in The Wool Lab, with speaker Mr. Brian TAM, Project Manager, Fashion and Marketing HK, The Woolmark Company.

Raffles Fashion Design students, took full advantage of this overseas study trip to Hong Kong! After attending the Woolmill seminars, sourcing at the suppliers etc, our Creative Practitioners took them shopping (literally), to gain market insight, be better enlightened about innovation in design process, and better relate to the future sense of style in the fashion industry!

Through the visits to boutiques, department stores, and local Hong Kong designer stores, these Raffles Fashion Designers came home with “bags of creativities” to wow their audience at their upcoming graduation fashion show! Check out some snapshots of them here!
