GREATER NODIA – The week-long Skill Development Programme (SDP) aimed at making the B.Tech students future-ready was inaugurated by Dr Preeti TEWARI, who welcomed the students with the invocation of Maa Saraswati through Saraswati Vandana, along with a lamp-lighting by the invited dignitaries. Dean of SOE, Dr A.K. TANEJA, and Dr C.S. SHARMA addressed the students in a motivating speech. He placed emphasis on the importance of having the willpower to do anything in this world. The Heads of Department also followed up with their respective speeches. Dr SHARMA then officially declared the SDP open with Dr Garima JHA proposing the vote of thanks.

As part of the week-long event, an expert talk was organised for the B.Tech CS & IT final students on industry requirements by leading software companies. Mr Farhan from WIPRO visited the campus and shared valuable advice on industry-academia requirements. He shared data pertaining to such requirements and the employability skills that are in demand. He elaborated on how Real Life Lab (RLL) and Design & Automation are the booming areas for employment. A question-and-answer session which followed suit proved extremely beneficial to the students as it cleared their doubts.

On 27 July 2016, the SDP continued with an expert talk on Entrepreneur Skill Development Innovations for the B.Tech ECE & EE students. The talk was delivered by Mr Vivek SINGH, Managing Director and Founder of VS Energy Harmonisation & Automation Pvt Ltd.

Of worthy mention is that the Communication Skills and technical modules were specifically target-oriented and focused on professionalism expected of fresh graduates in the industry. In these modules, rigorous drills and a structured teaching methodology was adopted.

In addition, the Communication Skills modules apart from other technical (branch specific) modules were specifically target oriented and focused on professionalism expected of these students in the industry. In closing, the workshop was a great success for lecturers and students from the JRE Group of Institutions.
